2) Answer the following: Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life? How do you feel about 40 % of employers checking social site such as Facebook before hiring? Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit?
3) Search on Google one of your parent's name and follow the links - what information did you find that was accurate? Did anything you find surprise you? What are the advantages and disadvantages of have this type of information so readily available? Due today, September 12, 2011.
2.) I never really realized what I put on the Internet before now. I never knew that 40% of the employers are looking at everything you put on Face book. From now on I will be way more careful because what you put on the Internet is there forever, and anyone can see it. To protect yourself from it without being a hermit, you can limit yourself on what you say on the WWW and be careful about what you say and what you post.
ReplyDelete3.) When I looked up my parent’s names on Google a lot of the links were not related to my mom or dad. When I looked up my dad’s name his DJ website came up. I looked up both my parents’ names and put the city and their face books came up. With this information so out there people can see where we live and what we do and it could be very unsafe.

2)I have thought about the tracks I leave but it doesnt really bother me because I have nothing to hide. Then again, it isnt good that anyone in the world can look you up on the internet and find out so much about you.
ReplyDeleteI think that its a good thing because they want someone they know they can rely on. Yes, there are ways to limit the information about you on the internet such as using a different name and not putting pictures of you up on facebook.
3) When I googled my moms name nothing came up because her name is so common.

2) I never really gave thought about the tracks I’m leaving. But now that I have heard about digital footprints I will be more thoughtful before I post anything. I feel fine about employers checking facebook because I think it can help you too, if they see your responsible and don’t do stupid stuff, you can get the job more easily. Yes there is a way you can protect yourself without being a hermit, you can be more responsible with your actions.
ReplyDelete3) I looked up my parents and nothing came up about them. I didn’t find anything that surprised me. Some advantages you can have is finding out some good information that you never knew about before. But the bad things are that you can find out something that you shouldn’t find out. Or don’t need to find out.

2)I haven't really thought of the digital tracks that I leave. I have nothing really to hide, because I think about what I post and I don't post things that I wouldn't want certain people to see. I feel okay about employers checking Facebook because I don't post anything that's not Facebook appropriate. I can protect myself by doing what I've been doing, which is, being responsible about what I post.
ReplyDelete3) I looked up my parents and a few things came up that were accurate. It surprised me because google knew SO much about both of my parents. Where they've lived, where they work, what their number is, things like that. A disadvantage is that anyone can look up your parents name, and know practically anything they want about them. An advantage is you get to find out new information that you didn't even know.

2) No, I have not given much thought about the tracks I am leaving online and what impact those tracks have on my life. I feel it is very smart that 40% of all employers check a person’s Facebook before hiring them. Employers are looking for smart, responsible, and trustful people and a person’s Facebook could tell a lot about them. Also, there are ways that people can limit or protect themselves online without becoming a hermit. People can think their thoughts through before putting them online for others to see. As long as people respect others online, watch what they write/upload, they will be fine.
ReplyDelete3) When I searched my parents on Google, I only found two accurate sources and they were for my Mom. I found a link to my Mom’s Facebook, and a reunion site that listed my grandmother with my Mom’s name under it. I was surprised that Google had linked my Grandmother to my Mom through one short post. The advantage of having this information so readily available is that it can be accessed by friends and family to socially connect/learn. The Disadvantage of having this information so readily available is that strangers can learn about you and find out who you are.

2.I don't think my tracks are anything to worry about, so because my parents are harsh and moniter everything I do.
ReplyDelete3. When I searched my dad I found two accurate sources of information, one, which was Facebook, and the other, which was LinkdIn.
When I search my mom I found at minimun five accurate sources of information about her.

2.)No, I have not given much thought to the tracks I leave on the Internet and I don't think it will have any impact on my life because I don't do anything I'm not supposed to be doing. My opinion on 40% of employers checking facebook is kinda dumb because were just kids they won't find our facebook as matured as an adults, and sometimes friends will get on your facebook and write inappropiate things as a joke and you don't even know it until the job that you were about to get goes to someone else. To protect yourself without becoming a hermit don't put any really personal information on facebook, be careful about what you say and who you say it too, and just don't be stupid.
ReplyDelete3.)When I looked up my mom's name I found he facebook, and I found a white pages site. What surprised me was that the white pages site had allll my mom's information on it, where she lives, her number, who she is married too, her family members and all their information. In my opinion there is no advantages to having this information so readily available but there are many disadvantages like if she made someone really mad and they found out her name they could go to our house and destroy everything and take anything. Or a creeper who likes little girls can find anyone in my mom's family who lives in the U.S.
Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life? no i haven't really thought about it. How do you feel about 40 % of employers checking social site such as Facebook before hiring? i feel that it is a good idea for employers to check facebook before they hire cause lots of people put out a lot of their information on facebook.Employers could learn a lot from them by just looking at their page. Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit? yes there are ways you can protect yourself limit the amount of information you put out on the web about yourself.
ReplyDelete3) Search on Google one of your parent's name and follow the links - what information did you find that was accurate? i found my moms full name and our address. Did anything you find surprise you? no nothing really srprised me cause i knew that google had pictures of people, their address, and possibly there phone number. What are the advantages and disadvantages of have this type of information so readily available? Advantages are easier to look up someone you know. Disadvantages are, people you don't know can get personal information about you.Due today, September 12, 2011.
2) I have never really gave much thought into the tracks that I leave in the Internet. I did bit know that 40% of employers check social network sites before they hire someone. It makes me think of anything I did to affect their decision. Yes, there are ways you can protect yourself without being a hermit. You can still be social and be responsible.
ReplyDelete3) After I searched my mom’s name I could not find any information that was accurate. The only thing that came up was other people with the same name as her. I really don’t see any advantages or disadvantages to having this type of information.

I do think about being traked and leaving tracks through out the web, thats why it is important to be as safe as possible while using the internet. I knew employers looked on facebook at future employees, i do think that it is actually a good idea to see what they are about.
ReplyDeleteI looked up both my parent on google, i found a lot on my dad, like where he went to highschool and that he played football there. However, i did not find anything about my mom.

I knew that employers looked on the web to find any information on you. Whether it be good or bad. I watch what i leave on the internet which is why i dont do much on it.
ReplyDeleteOn the internet i found my Moms full name and our phone number and address. I found nothing on my dad. Also nothing really suprised me to where i was like woah. The advanteges of this information is if I needed some type of phone numer to call a friend it would be easy to find. Dissadvantages would be someone you dont know finding information on you.

1) I have not given much thought but it can be dangoures if you are not careful.
ReplyDeleteI do not really care because I am not on facebook and i will not be for a while.
Yes you can go on the sights but not do it every day.
2) when I googled my dad he had many site that show him and one where it shows where we live and other information that makes me concerned. And same thing with my mom you can even get direction to my house.

2) I have not thought about my Digital Footprint, or the impact it will be putting on my life. I feel as if they should check their possible emplyee's social sites, to see if they should reall yhire them, and see what kind of attitude they might have.
ReplyDelete3)When i searched my mothers name, i found the date of my grandmother's death, and the obituary where my mother was mentioned, i also found her class reunion site, and her facebook. One other thing i found was an online site for when her and my father bought the first house we owned in Bedford, talking about the guy who gave us the deed to our house, signing it over. The advantages of this are that your employers can easily find things out about you, and your children can find information, like what we did. A disadvantage about this, is that people who do not really need to read that information, can access it at any time, like the link about the deed has information abou thow we bought the house for 225,000 dollars, they could see that we obviously had money to spend. they know the address also of that house, and they could have gone and robbed that house. there are other things like, the links to my mothers Facebook page, how if she does not have the privacy settings on there, people can see all of her information that she has on there.
2) I have given some thought to the footprints I leave behind but not enough to impact it to badly. I think it is a smart idea for employers to check Facebook before employing and thats why I'm going to delete mine before I am hired for a life changing job. You can limit yourself on what you say on the WWW and Facebook.
ReplyDelete3) I did not find anything on my mother only Facebook accounts and Myspace accounts in which I already knew about that so it wasn't surprising. Some advantages are that you can find information on yourself but the disadvantage is so can other people.

2. I have given some thought about the tracks im leaving on the web because I never want to have bad things posted about me online and for people to read them. And I think that is a good idea that buisnesses check peoples facebooks because if you are hiring someone you would want to know as much as u can about them so u dont hire a bad person. And yes there are ways to protect yourself on the internet and still be sociable.
ReplyDelete3. After I Searched my moms name the only thing accurate about her was her website for her buissness and I knew that was on the web already.

ReplyDeleteHow do you feel about 40 % of employers checking social site such as Facebook before hiring? -i think its a good thing because the person applying for the job could just be putting on an act and by looking at their facebook, you can really see who they are. Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit? -dont put something personal you wouldnt want someone to see.
3)what information did you find that was accurate? i searched both of my parents and i didnt find anything on either of them.
Did anything you find surprise you? -no, i dodnt find anything.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of have this type of information so readily available? -people can literally know anything they want to know about you, and i dont really think there are any advantages.

I don't really care if i leave digital tracks on the internet because i don't leave stupid remarks and such like some people do on facebook. There isnt really anyway you can hide your indenity on the internet because if someone really wanted to find out were you lived they could just track your IP and etc.
